Through this hike you will encounter elements of natural and cultural history, along with interesting geological sights. Traces Trail runs around the Mathews Arm Campground and is named ‘Traces’ because it passes by ‘traces’ of a former mountain settlement. The trail leads to a geologic structure rising 50 feet above the ground. A self-guided hiking booklet is available. The trails are listed below from North to South, and their location along Skyline Dr. They provide self-guided brochures, and kids can ‘track’ their hikes in order to win prizes. Track Trails for Kids: Track Trails for Kids is a program done by ‘Kids in Parks’ and it’s a way to engage children with nature. Round Trip Hikes: Where I have noted a hike is round trip that generally means that it is an ‘out and back’ hike.Ĭircuit Hikes: These hikes involve circle or interconnected trails, which means you may end up in a different location than when you started.ĪDA Hikes: Any hike that is ADA approved means that it is paved, and can accommodate wheelchairs or strollers.
